Is There Space for Solar Panels on Your Property?
We believe that solar energy is the future of power production and we try to do everything we can to make it accessible for the people in our community. Oftentimes, our customers think solar panels can’t work for their home, but it’s almost never the case. In this blog, we’ll explain how much space you need for solar panels to be a realistic option. The answer may surprise you!
Solar Capacity
The important thing to remember is that even just one solar panel will provide you with free energy that will be worth it in the long run. We work primarily with homes and commercial buildings. We’ve done what some might consider small jobs and some that features many panels. We believe they’ve all been great investments for our clients.
It comes down to how much of your electricity use you want to replace with your solar capacity. Electricity is typically measured in kilowatt-hours. One solar panel can produce over 500 kWh over the course of a year. The average American home uses over 10,000 kWh over a whole year. One solar panel alone can provide a decent chunk of that all for free. However, it’s easy to see how multiple panels can cover a lot.
How Much Space Does a Solar Panel Take Up?
Our SunPower panels run about 5 feet by 3.5 feet. We typically install them on roofs, but they can be placed in other areas potentially as well. For what you get, even a small number of panels will make a huge difference!
